Monday Noon-2PM
This show distills the ancient and medieval classifications of the elements found across Persian, Babylonian, Hindu, Buddhist, Chinese, Greek, Tibetan, Islamic, and Japanese cultures, philosophies, and traditions. These are earth, water, air, fire, and aether (as well as additional, compatible elements of metal and wood), extending to their respective properties of solidity/inertia, cohesion/fluidity, expansion/mobility, energy/temperature, and space/void, which closely align with musical properties and motifs. Hence, these elements will be used to identify, classify and assemble music from the realms of ambient, early electronic, modern composition, minimalism, free improvisation, spiritual jazz, and beyond.
No, I will not be playing any tracks by Earth; Air; or Earth, Wind, and Fire.
