To our Freeform Portland community,
We stand in solidarity with the Black community in the fight against racism and white supremacy in all its forms, which inflict a daily toll on the health and well-being of Black Americans.
Our platform is largely fueled by white voices, music, and perspectives and we must do better.
We are committed to building a more inclusive and diverse radio community and recognize the deep introspection and difficult conversations this demands.
Here are the actions we are taking right now:
- We are seeking training for our leadership and volunteers to assist us with this work.
- We are increasing our emphasis on the music of black artists in our broadcasting, and looking for input from the community on how to make our station more inclusive.
- We are making recruitment of BIPOC DJs the first priority in our next application drive.
We stand in support and recognition of our Black DJs, volunteers, and listeners who are part of our Freeform family.
